RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research (BDR)
※RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research was established in 2018, from the merger of the Center for Developmental Biology, the Center for Life Science Technologies, and the Quantitative Biology Center.
By grasping the molecular, cellular, and organ systems involved in the development, growth, and aging processes of an organism, the BDR will contribute to understanding of human health and disease, applications for regenerative medicine, and the extension of healthy life expectancies.

Institute of Biomedical Research and Innovation (IBRI) Laboratory
The IBRI Laboratory promotes research aimed at improving health care, especially in the fields of regenerative medicine, PET/medical imaging, drug development and preemptive / preventative medicine. The laboratory also focuses on implementing health surveys on diabetes and other lifestyle-related diseases in order to respond to the needs of the general public.
Translational Research Informatics Center (TRI)
TRI is a data center and statistical analysis center for clinical studies that promotes translational research to bridge between basic research and clinical application – first of its kind ever established in Japan.
It also has facilities such as laboratories for researchers, and rental meeting rooms to hold seminars or symposiums.
International Medical Device Alliance (IMDA)
IMDA is a center for joint R&D of medical devices and related devices, and promotes the commercialization of these devices. Within IMDA, a comprehensive system to support the commercialization of medical devices is facilitated, consisting of: 1. the PMDA-FBRI Cooperation Center for Pharmaceutical Affairs Consultation on R&D Strategy, 2. FBRI Pro-Cluster Kobe, Kobe Support Platform for Promoting Medical Device Commercialization and Marketing and 3. Medical Device Support Plaza.
Kobe Hybrid Business Center (KHBC)
KHBC is a center of providing rental laboratories to meet the demands for R&D laboratories.
In addition, there is a space for industries and research institutions to exchange knowledge, and on-site day care center for children jointly operated by the research institutions and companies.
Business Support Center for Biomedical Research Activities (BMA)
BMA provides rental laboratories for biomedical and biotechnological research with access to specialized facilities that universities and research institutions cannot afford, including laboratories for radioactive isotope (RI) experiments, cell processing centers (CPC), and shared-use animal breeding and testing facilities. These facilities reduce the risks generated during commercialization process and the time required for practical application of R&D outputs.
Kobe Biotechnology Research and Human Resource Development Center (BT Center) / Kobe University Business Incubation Center
The BT Center is a base for advanced and interdisciplinary research and training in biotechnology, transcending the established domains of study and university departments. The center shares its facilities with the Incubation Center which nurtures venture businesses founded in Kobe University.
Kobe Medical Device Development Center (MEDDEC)
MEDDEC provides rental laboratories and offices to promote the launch of new medical device-related businesses ,and facilitates the evaluation, improvement and diffusion of minimally invasive medical therapies, technologies and devices, such as catheters, stents, endoscopes and peritoneoscopes to ease the burden on patients.
Kobe Healthcare Industry Development Center (HI-DEC)
HI-DEC provides rental laboratories and offices to support R&D and commercialization activities in healthcare-related fields, such as the development of health promotion devices, dietary foods and experimental and diagnostic/preventive devices.
KIMEC Building (KIMEC)
As a well designed, functional building symbolizing the advent of ICT society, the KIMEC is a second stage flagship development on Port Island. In addition to office space, it encompasses wet laboratories suited for biomedical and biotechnological research.
Kobe International Business Center (KIBC)
KIBC provides WAM (warehouse, assembly and manufacturing) space as well as R&D laboratories and offices, all within the same building. This allows for the full integration of business functions from R&D, to production, sales, distribution and administration.

Kobe Minimally Invasive Cancer Center
Opened in April 2013 / 80 beds
The cancer center that provides minimally invasive cancer treatments: radiotherapy, chemotherapy with anti-cancer drugs, and interventional radiology.
Nishi Memorial Port Island Rehabilitation Hospital
Opened in April 2013 / 150 beds
The reintegration hospital that offers rehabilitation services during an early convalescent period after acute stage through the cooperation with medical facilities that provide acute treatment.
Child Chemo House
Opened in April 2013 / 19 beds
The center offers patients with pediatric cancer and their families a peaceful environment, and has chemotherapy and palliative care departments within its property.

Opened in October 2014
The Medical plaza that offers medical training and support for the development of medical devices.
Hyogo Prefectural Kobe Children’s Hospital
Opened in May 2016 / 290 beds
The core hospital for pediatric and perinatal treatment in Hyogo Prefecture designated as a core pediatric cancer hospital by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
RIKEN Integrated Innovation Building(IIB)
Inaugurated as a base for industry-academia partnership in order to create innovation from a wide range of RIKEN’s research seeds.。
Foundation for Computational Science (FOCUS)
Operates the Center for Computational Science adjacent to the “K computer” as a base for promoting technological sophistication by encouraging the utilization of supercomputers and computational simulations by private companies.
Kobe Eye Center
Focuses on research and treatment for eye disorders including rehabilitation and livelihood support of patients, in order to accelerate practical application of regenerative medicine such as the world’s first cell therapy using iPS cells for age-related macular regeneration (AMD).
International Clinical Cancer Research Center of Kobe University
Opened in April 2017／120 beds
Promotes advanced surgical treatment for cancer as well as research and development of next-generation medical care and new medical devices, and serves as an international center for medical research and education in cooperation with the Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine and the School of Medicine and Kobe University Hospital.
Kobe Center for Medical Innovation (KCMI)
Comprises wet laboratories for pharmaceutical and venture businesses, a CPC suited to product development in regenerative medicine and a apace for R&D of a “post-K” supercomputer.
Hyogo Ion Beam Medical Center Kobe Proton Center
Provides proton beam therapy with few side effects such as late complications for pediatric cancer patients, and also provides to adult cancer patients in collaboration with neighboring medical institutions.
