Autologous dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) isolated from discarded teeth like wisdom teeth are transplanted into the teeth after root canal treatment and disinfection. This allows the pulp to be regenerated to the original state.

    Development of the supercomputer Fugaku
    The supercomputer Fugaku, developed by RIKEN and Fujitsu, is planned to go into full operation around 2021. Fugaku will be used in a variety of areas such as drug discovery, prediction and mitigation of natural disasters, and industrial simulations. Fugaku will also become a platform for AI and big data research, fulfilling the needs of the society in the 21st century.


Integrated Innovation Building (IIB)



The Integrated Innovation Building (IIB) opened in 2015 as a RIKEN center to serve as a hub for collaboration between academia and industry. Since then, various industries have conducted collaborative research with RIKEN. RIKEN’s Interdisciplinary Theoretical and Mathematical Sciences Program (iTHEMS), which aims to shape the future of science through the study and application of mathematics, also uses IIB as its base in Kobe.
