vol.43 January 2024
Hello,
This year, the Luminarie has finally taken place from January 19 to 28 for the first time in past four years due to the suspension caused by the pandemic. The Luminarie is an annual light festival held in Kobe's city center. The festival serves as a memorial event for the victims of the Great Hanshin Earthquake that occurred on January 17, 1995, causing significant devastation in the Kobe region.
Kobe locals and visitors to the Luminarie are sharing the joy of its revival. There is fundraising for the victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, which occurred at the beginning of this year, at the fairground of the Luminarie. The new year has started with sad news, but we hope that those affected can return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
